Memorial of Christ's Death

Countdown to the Memorial

The Memorial has arrived!

What Is the Memorial?

The Memorial of Christ's death is the most important event for Jehovah's Witnesses. It is the only event Jesus commanded his followers to observe: (Luke 22:19)

On the evening of Nisan 14, 33 C.E., Jesus met with his faithful apostles and instituted a simple observance using unleavened bread (representing his sinless body) and red wine (representing his poured-out blood).

Jesus gave his perfect human life as a ransom sacrifice β€” a corresponding price to buy back what Adam lost for all mankind: the prospect of everlasting life on a paradise earth. (Matthew 20:28; John 3:16)

Each year, millions gather worldwide on the anniversary of Jesus' death to remember this greatest act of love. Everyone is warmly invited β€” there is no admission charge, and no collection is taken.
